Medavie Blue Cross and Employees Raise Funds for Haiti Earthquake Fund

 (Moncton, NB) — When news broke of a 7.0 earthquake hitting the impoverished country of Haiti, Medavie Blue Cross employees instantly asked the question "How can we help?"

From January 15 until January 25, employees of Medavie Blue Cross in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland, Quebec and Ontario dressed casually, held fundraising events and collected donations for the Canadian Red Cross Haiti Earthquake Fund. 

"Our employees have a long tradition of giving to those in need and Medavie Blue Cross is widely respected for living our core value of contributing to the well-being of our communities and our society," says Ruth Rappini, Vice-President Organization Development, Medavie Blue Cross.

Overwhelming support was displayed for Haitian relief efforts and employee donations through this initiative totalled $13,417.81.

Combined with this amount is a $5,000 corporate donation from Medavie Blue Cross to assist with Haiti's need for medical help, food, water, shelter and security.

In total $18,417.81 has been raised by Medavie Blue Cross and will be provided to the Canadian Red Cross to help support the most urgent needs of this population stricken by the devastating earthquake.
