TOP 101 Awards – It takes a brand to build a brand…

Unparalleled networking

Each year a networking award reception is held in each of the Atlantic provinces. As the most powerful business brand in the region the 101 events deliver CEOs and senior executives to you — in one place — at one time.

These exclusive events offer the opportunity for your company to build and strengthen relationships with the region’s established business leaders.

How the TOP 101 Companies were selected

Participation in the Progress TOP 101 Companies survey is voluntary. Companies appearing on the annual list chose to participate (with the exception of a few publicly traded companies). To qualify for inclusion in this survey, each company’s corporate head office has to be located in Atlantic Canada or the company must have an independent board of directors based in Atlantic Canada. The companies must not be a subsidiary of another reporting Atlantic Canadian-based company, and not-for-profit organizations are not eligible. The data, which is collected in April and May of each year, reflects each company’s latest corporate year-end. All submissions are subject to a verification process.

Why support this event?

• Network with Atlantic Canada’s finest.

• Demonstrate that your company is a corporate leader that encourages business growth

and promotes entrepreneurial activity and development within Atlantic Canada.

• Gain access to the TOP 101 like no other–an event that brings together decision-makers of

companies with combined revenues of more than $39 billion in 2009!

• 85% of ranked companies send their CEO to accept their award.

The numbers speak for themselves, so seize the opportunity to position your company among the best.

Since 2007, Progress has broadened the Top 101 Companies of Atlantic Canada to include a focus on value creation and competitiveness. Focusing on Atlantic Canada’s most outstanding companies, the Top 101 rankings encompass all aspects of operational performance, including company revenue growth and non-financial measures.

Research partners at the Sobey School of Business at Saint Mary’s University and the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council have enabled the magazine to include a balanced scorecard assessment of leading company performance, along with an assessment of the region’s business outlook. According to management experts at the Sobey School, a balanced scorecard approach recognizes the importance of different organizational stakeholders, each of which sees a certain aspect of performance as fundamentally important. The four areas of assessment are customer orientation, internal perspectives, innovation, and governance and social responsibility. Top 10 lists are produced in each area, and one company overall is ranked as the most balanced along with the TOP 101 list ranked by revenue.
